Launched in January 2004, Liucia Japan is a luxury lifestyle brand defined by clean modern designs that cherish its Japanese artisan past in the present. At its core, Liucia is classic but always with a youthful sense of innocence and whimsy .

Noted for its signature Obi Series Collections internationally – Obi Wristlet, Obi with Leather Knot Strap, Obi Shoulder Bag and the Obi Hardcase clutch – Liucia Japan was the very first designer to use vintage obi brocades and kimono in minimalistic clutch and bag designs. Each bag continues to be made by one crafts person and is limited to one original that comes from a series of 5-6 designs per belt and kimono. Each Obi Bag is one of a kind and numbered from .1 to .5, the number in the print series from which it was made. While other companies have recently come to produce like designs, Liucia continues to innovate with designs like the two – in – one Origami clutch and shoulder bag and another world first, the L-Smart travel pocket, that is now a signature feature on all leather bags. Liucia’s leather line is also noted for its “hidden features”. That is, all of our bags while being crafted from nappa, calfskin are light weight and maintain many subtly designed pockets on the inside and outside of a bag to maximize utility. We are girls designing for girls and we want all of designs to be well used and loved.

In 2005, Liucia partnered with the avant-garde brand B to create B Loves Liucia. Since then, Liucia has continued to work with B in creating limited pieces that reflect the contrasting esthetic of both brands. Liucia Japan launched its first free-standing boutique in Hong Kong in 2009 as a gateway to greater Asia and continues to be sold internationally in retail boutiques in countries like Japan, Russia and Singapore. As a lifestyle brand, Liucia Japan debuted a limited edition apparel line in 2009 and continues to expand its leather handbags, shoes and accessories collections. Featured in magazines like Marie Claire and with celebrity clients like Kelly Chen, Rinko Kikuchi, Sinsu Co, Megan Goode, Erykah Badu and Katie White from the Ting Tings, Liucia is the voice of a spirited East meets West aesthetic expressed through minimalistic designs and pretty and vibrant hues to complement all personalities.

The Name

The name Liucia – Ryucia in Japanese – originates from co-founder and chief designer Alycia’s name and her mother’s name, an homage to her mother’s legendary elegant sense of style and many years in the leather goods industry.
